1965 Shelby GT350 Tribute Mustang

Our thanks to Daivd Irwin of Tyler Ford for his continued support of the East texas Crisis Center and for donating this mustang.

The 2013 East Texas Auto & Cycle Show raffle car is a 1965 Shelby GT 350 Tribute, made possible through the generosity and commitment of men throughout our community that support the East Texas Crisis Center. Members of the Mustangs of East Texas were given the opportunity to restore the 1965 fastback Mustang that had belonged to one of their members, Harry Ott. Harry had worked with the Club on several restoration projects that benefitted the East Texas Crisis Center. Upon his untimely death, his wife donated his Mustang to the Club with the condition, that once restored, the sale would benefit the East Texas Crisis Center. Members of the Club took on the project and completed the restoration in about six months. Their plan was to show the Mustang at one of the country’s largest car shows in Oklahoma and place it “for sale” on ebay at the same time. David Irwin from Tyler Ford knew of the restoration project and expressed his interest to see the Mustang before it was taken to Oklahoma. The vintage car never made the trip to Oklahoma but was purchased by Tyler Ford for $35,000 with proceeds going to ETCC. David then turned around and donated it back to ETCC as their 2013 raffle car. This stunning Tribute car has the body of a 1965 fastback but has been completely restored from head to toe to replicate the Shelby GT 350 finished in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue Lemans stripes and with side exit exhaust. The restoration boasts upgrades of a 302 roller motor, 4 speed toploader transmission, power steering, air-conditioning, and AM radio. Raffle tickets for the 1965 Shelby GT 350 Tribute sell for $10 and the drawing for the winning ticket will take place Sunday, February 3rd at the 2013 East Texas Auto & Cycle Show at Harvey Convention Center.

Previous Raffle Cars, Winners, and a little history.

In the beginning the East Texas Crisis Center would buy the cars. It was only when raffle ticket sales exceeded the cost that we would see a benefit for the center. Beginning in 2004, and every year since, Tyler Ford has donated the raffle cars and allowed the East Texas Crisis Center to keep 100 percent of the ticket sales. The cars were not ordinary. Every year David Irwin, the General Manager and Managing Partner of Tyler Ford sought out something special.  Here are a few of them.
